# Sakawave API

> Build customer wallets, move money, and reconcile transactions with the Sakawave Business API.

The Sakawave Business API lets an approved business create customers, open accounts, resolve transfer destinations, request FX quotes, initiate transfers, and reconcile the resulting ledger transactions.

## How the API works

```http theme={null}
Authorization: Bearer sk_test_your_key_here
Content-Type: application/json
X-Request-ID: checkout_01K0EXAMPLE
```

Sakawave returns `X-Request-ID` on every response. Log it with your own operation identifier and include it when contacting support.

## Before you begin

You need an approved Sakawave business, access to its dashboard, and a sandbox API key. API keys belong to one environment; sandbox credentials cannot access live data and live credentials cannot access sandbox data.

Continue to the [quickstart](/quickstart) to make an authenticated request.
